Before you book
Questions and straight answers
- How much does it cost to hire a mobile digital billboard?
- Trailer hire starts at $500 for up to three days for the Nugget (3m²), $650 for the Maveric (4m²) and $1,800 for The Boss (8m²). Weekly rates are $1,200, $1,500 and $3,200. Digital posters are $200 a week (The Nifty, 55 inch) and $250 a week (The Minion, 80 inch). All rates are plus GST. Insurance is compulsory at 15 percent unless you provide your own cover. Delivery and pickup are $190 each way in Auckland and Christchurch. There are no printing or production costs.
- Do I need to tow the trailer myself?
- No. Full service means we deliver, position, set up and collect. If you would rather save the delivery fee, the DIY option lets you collect any trailer from our depot and tow it yourself. The Nugget is 750kg, the Maveric 1000kg, The Boss 1800kg; all three have duo-fit couplings for 50mm and 1 7/8 inch tow balls.
- Where do you operate?
- We have depots in Auckland and Christchurch and deliver nationwide on request. Delivery and pickup within Auckland or Christchurch is $190 each way; ask us for a price anywhere else.
- Can the screens be seen in daylight?
- Yes. The mobile screens run at 6000 nits, which is bright enough for direct sunlight. They dim automatically at night so they are readable without glare.
- How do I get my content on the screen?
- Upload it over WiFi from anywhere, or by USB. Video, animation and still images all work, and you can schedule rotations or change the message during the hire. The Boss, Maveric and Nugget can also stream live video.
- What artwork do I need to supply?
- Video or still images sized to the screen. We send a spec sheet with every booking that gives the exact pixel dimensions for the unit you have hired. 16:9 content works on the trailers.
- Do the trailers need power?
- They plug into a standard 230V power point and come with a 20 metre cord. If there is no power at your site, hire the generator: 6kW, quiet, six hours per tank, and it can be refuelled while running.
- Are there rules about where I can put a billboard trailer?
- Yes. Council signage rules apply in Auckland and Christchurch, and the trailer needs to sit on land you have permission to use. Tell us where you want it and we will tell you what applies before you book.
- Is insurance included?
- Insurance is compulsory. Add it at 15 percent of the hire, or provide your own cover for the unit.
- Can I park the trailer on the side of the road?
- No. The trailer goes on private property, your own premises, a client's site or an event venue, with the screen facing the road. No permit is normally needed for that.
- Can I play video on the screen?
- Yes, except when the screen faces a public road. Still images and slides there; video everywhere else.
- Can the trailer be towed around while it is showing content?
- Yes. The Boss is used that way for guerrilla campaigns. Ask us for a quote for a driven route.
- Is it fine in the rain, and can it stay on all night?
- Yes to both. Every unit is built for all weather, and the trailers dim themselves after dark so the screen is never too bright for the street.
- What files do you need?
- JPG or PNG for stills, MP4 for video. Send them to us and we load them for you, or upload yourself over WiFi, 4G or the app. There is also an HDMI port.
- How big are the trailers?
- The Boss is 5.8 metres long and 1.9 wide. The Maveric is 3.15 by 1.8. The Nugget is 2.65 by 1.8.
- How do I know whether it worked?
- Put a QR code on the screen that goes to a page only the screen shows. The scans tell you exactly how many people acted on it. One hirer cleared a week of pop-up stock on a discount code shown only on the board.
- How far ahead should I book?
- The fleet is small, so popular weekends and event seasons go early. Check availability online for live dates, or ring 0800 474 935 and we will tell you what is free.
